Sun

Travis woke up in the middle of nowhere, although he wasn't really asleep to begin with; he had been living an automatic life, and he was just waking up from it.
The sun was hot and the air was dry, he felt each one of his memories fade away, as if they were all running to a nicer place; soon he could not remember where he was, how he got there not how to get back to wherever he needed to be going to back to.
All he knew was that he needed to get away, that the sun held something he needed so he should follow it wherever it went.

The sun was setting and the sky was filled with orange and pink colors, it was a pretty awesome sunset, the best one he had ever seen, he reached for his pocket, but his camera wasn't there. It really bothered him that he wouldn't be able to capture the sight and share it later on, he was even more annoyed by this than by having to walk all the way back without knowing how far into the wilderness he was in.

He went into the sunset, after all, that would lead him straight to the ocean.

After a while he found a road that lead west, which was fortunate as the sun was completely gone by now. He walked until his feet hurt and his mind started playing tricks on him, here telling him there was a snake, there a coyote with a patched eye; other times he would see the stars mocking him and giggling around, but he ignored them and kept on walking.

He reached the beach by morning and walked straight into the water which was calm like a mirror and he was amazed to see how different he looked from what he had imagined. He stayed there until he could no longer feel his feet, which was better than the pain, and then he got out of the water feeling incredibly drowsy.
The sand was cool and he was tired so he let himself fall; the wind, the birds and even the clouds seemed nicer than the stars and night animals, it appeared as if they were singing him a lullaby and he could understand every word.
Everything was so bright and cheerful; it felt so peaceful and safe. He was so tired he didn't fight sleep as it came to him. His dreams brought back his memories, all of them filling him up only to leave again as the sun set.

The end.
